After the success of the very first Maximus 360 Xtractor Pro tool kit comes the latest evolution in the Xtractor range, the Xtractor Pro v2, there has been some subtle yet very significant changes to how the new 360 Xtractor 2 functions, of cause it has all the same features of the former model, USB & Serial support, capability to use the various add-ons such as the Spear & Vampire probes to make doing the Lite-On drives just that much easier, but it’s really the new editions to the Maximus Xtractor Pro 2 that set it out from the rest, the new functions and features have been aimed at making the whole process of flashing the drives a more user friendly and a simplified process, we explore some of these new and unique functions of the 360 Xtractor Pro v2 below and think some of you will be surprised at the evolution of the device..

The first new features to mention are the Maximus Xtractor v2’s ability to have pre-programmed automated functions almost like macros if you will, these macro sequences are made possible by the new processor used on the device, first is the one press 0x72 mode on LiteOn drives, now it’s a simple case of hitting one button on the 360 Xtractor 2 itself and it will cycle the drive for you to put it in 0x72 mode, before you would need to do this in Jungle Flasher and required a couple of steps to achieve the same result, now the process has been automated on the 360 Xtractor Pro v2 itself with the press of one button. The second is they have now made the half tray process a one button press on the Xtractor itself as well, the Maximus Xtractor Pro v2 will now automate the whole half tray process for you, where before there was a manual sequence required to get it right, the automation of the half tray process should eliminate people not getting it right first go and having to do it again, it’s now simply a one button press on the 360 Xtractor 2 itself and the drive will be put into half tray mode for you. These are some of the new features that try to automate parts of the flashing process for you, making the job quicker and smoother with also reducing the amount of human error possible when putting drives into these modes. These new automated command sequences (macros) that are now mapped to the buttons on the 360 Xtractor v2 device itself can also be integrated into flashing software such as Jungle Flasher in the future so that all automated functions can be triggered by the flashing software as well. There is a built on LED on the Xtractor 2 PCB, each automated function such as the half tray or 0x79 will display a different LED response depending on the function triggered so the user knows that the sequence has been initiated and can tell the difference between each different function. There is also a built in speaker which may also be made use of in the future to voice which command has been executed making it even more clear what function process you have initiated, also once the flashing process is complete they will be able to make it known via the speaker, this is still yet to be implemented, but the hardware is there and a firmware update to the device is all that will be needed to enable it.

The Maximus 360 Xtractor Pro v2 is now using a much more powerful main processor which is responsible for these new features being added such as the Macro mode sequences and will allow for new features to be added in the future. Now I hear you asking how can new features be added in the future, well this is the really cool part about the 360 Xtractor 2, these are the very first flashing tool that have the ability for its core logic to be updated, that’s right the Xtractor Pro v2 is firmware updatable and so far is the only tool of its kind to boast this feature. Why is buying a firmware updatable device like this good, well simply put, it allows the developers to not only track any bugs and release firmware updates to fix them, but it also allows them to develop new features and then the end users are able to flash update their 360 Xtractor Pro v2 to make use of these new features. In the past this would mean having to buy a newer model of the kit, but now it will be a simple case of just flash updating the device to make use of the new features the developers have made. So if any more automated sequences similar to the half tray trick for example were made, the user would just need to do a firmware update and the new automated processed would be implemented into the Xtractor to be triggered by a button on the device, or in the future by the flashing software itself. This could also come particularly handy if a new Lite-On drives comes out, there is no guarantee that newer & different hardware may be required for new drives, but being that this latest Maximus Xtractor 2 is firmware updateable, if it’s a simple case of changing some address values in the core firmware to enable support for the new drives, with the 360 Xtractor Pro v2 all you would need to do is update them with a newer firmware and your away.
